Summer Safety Tips for Pools & Spas

Summer is here, and our pools, spas and hot tubs are back in action. Before you get in, make sure to test all GFCI outlets and breakers around the pool and hot tub areas. Each GFI outlet should power off when you press the test button. Immediately replace any defective outlets.

Also, don’t be tempted to use extension cords to power devices near your pool. Use battery powered devices. Keep all electric equipment and appliances away from pools, spas and hot tubs. And of course, stay away from the pool area during thunder and lightning.

Our featured photo shows a new wired and installed 50 amp GFCI hot tub disconnect in Cochranville. Have a great summer!

Cool Your Home Efficiently with Whole House Fans

Whole house fans are a great way to cool your house down this summer. They pull fresh cool air in from outside the house and push it through the attic and then back outside, cooling the attic at the same time.

Whole house fans can save you money on your electric bills by lowering your air conditioning usage. This Tamerack HV 1600 pictured here was installed in Lancaster and it has powerful energy efficient fan motors and comes with a two speed remote control.

Get Prepared for Winter with a Portable Generator

This Generac 8000 watt portable generator was installed in West Chester, PA

We just had our first ice storm of the season, and fortunately it wasn’t as bad as ice storms from the past. However, don’t let old man winter sneak up on you next time. Get prepared with a portable generator!

For most homes we recommend the Generac 8000 watt portable generator. This unit has what it takes to keep the important things working during a power outage, and it also won’t break the bank. Your refrigerators, sump pump, well pump, heater and lights can be wired into a transfer panel to make it easy.

Once it’s set up, there will be no need to run a bunch of dangerous extension cords throughout the house. Just roll out the generator and plug in one cord, then hit the transfer panel switches.

Generator Power Management

Generator transfer switch and power management modules by Generac work together as a system to manage the power load from appliances, allowing you to prioritize so they don’t come on all together at the same time and cause your generator to overload when you need it the most. Pictured is a 200 amp automatic transfer switch with smart management modules installed in Oxford, PA.

Keep Your Generator Ready With A Cold Weather Kit

cold-weather-kit-2 During last winter’s power outages some standby generators were unable to start. In some cases the extended periods of cold temperatures caused the battery to loose power and the crankcase oil to thicken, making it hard to start.

To prevent this, Generac has a cold weather kit that will automatically maintain optimum battery and  oil temperatures throughout the winter, keeping your generator ready to start even in extreme cold.

The photos show a cold weather kit that we installed in Ovations, a 55 and older community in West Grove, PA.
